In the last two decades, the kingdom of Morocco has resolutely engaged, under the high Guidance of His Majesty the King Mohammed VI May God glorify Him, in a process of modernization of the electricity sector intended to strengthen its energy security while taking into consideration climate change challenges and the proactive approach to sustainable development enshrined in the 2011’s Constitution. 

This dynamic has made it possible to improve indicators of the national electricity grid such as: the reinforcement of network performance, the quality of electricity, the widespread access to electricity services and the progressive opening to competition. However, to accompany the development of this country’s strategic sector an appropriate and independent regulatory framework is required.

Thus, ANRE was created to support this development and to ensure the proper functioning of the national electricity sector for the benefit of all the sector’s stakeholders.

Aware of its key and strategic role, ANRE is determined to pursuit the modernization efforts deployed on the sector and willing to commit in favor of the implementation of the New Development Model guidelines aiming to « draw together all the sector’s stakeholders to pursue a common shared objective, which is a competitive, accessible and sustainable energy ».
