Home > ANRE and NERC of Nigeria Lay Groundwork for Cooperation in Electricity Regulation
Arising from a common strategic vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God Assist Him, and the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari to consolidate strategic cooperation between the two countries, the National Electricity Regulatory Authority (ANRE) of Morocco and the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) established ,on Wednesday 06th October 2021 in Rabat, the basis for cooperation between the two parties in the scope of their mission of the electricity sector regulation. The Nigerian delegation, led by Senator Gabriel Torwua SUSWAM, Chairman of the Energy Committee in the Parliament of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, met with ANRE’s Board, chaired by Abdellatif BARDACH, to discuss the terms of this agreement aiming the promotion of exchange and transfer of experiences between the two regulators. This exchange took place in the presence of the Vice President of NERC, Musiliu O. Oseni and commissioners of the Nigerian regulator. Within this dynamic, ANRE and NERC expressed their strong desire to strengthen cooperation and work together. The cooperation agreement will provide a very clear and concrete outline for these efforts. It will focus on the regulatory mechanisms and the institutional regulatory framework of the electricity sector in order to achieve the respective objectives of the two countries’ energy strategies.
