The National Authority for Electricity Regulation (ANRE), received on October 26, 2021, at the headquarters of ANRE in Rabat, an important Belgian delegation led by the CEO of the Belgian Association AGORIA*, Mr. Bart Steukers, and composed of representatives of some companies affiliated to this Association. During this meeting, the Belgian delegation stated that its visit to Morocco is based on the significant potential of the Moroccan economy, which opens promising prospects for strengthening economic relations between the two countries. For his part, the president of ANRE, Abdellatif Bardach, after presenting the National Electricity Regulatory Authority and the main missions for which it is responsible, insisted on the importance of the ambitious project of the transition. energy driven by Morocco, under the impetus of His Majesty the King, may God assist Him. In this regard, he also highlighted the crucial role of the national and international private sector to develop the free market for the production and marketing of green electricity. Mr. Bardach reported to the Belgian delegation the work being done by ANRE, in close consultation with public and private operators, to establish the tools that will allow for an effective regulation of the electricity sector in Morocco and should meet the requirements of visibility, stability and non-discriminatory treatment towards investors. He mentioned, in this context, the project of Grid Code, the unbundling of the transport activity from other activities of the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water, the Code of Conduct, pricing, quality indicators, etc. At the end of the meeting, the two parties stressed the importance of cooperation between the two countries in the energy field.
