ANRE and NERC of Nigeria Lay Groundwork for Cooperation in Electricity Regulation

Rabat - The National Electricity Regulatory Authority (ANRE) and the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) laid the groundwork for a cooperation agreement as part of their electricity regulatory missions.

A Nigerian delegation, led by Senator Gabriel Torwua Suswam, Chairman of the Energy Commission in the Parliament of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, thus met with the ANRE Council, chaired by Abdellatif Bardach, on the terms of this cooperation agreement aimed at promoting the exchange and transfer of experience between the two regulators.
This exchange took place in the presence of the vice-president of the NERC, Musiliu O. Oseni and the commissioners of the Nigerian regulatory body.
As part of this dynamic, ANRE and NERC have expressed their firm desire to strengthen the ties of cooperation and work together. The cooperation agreement will define a very clear and concrete framework for all these efforts. Articulated around the regulatory mechanisms and the institutional and regulatory framework of the electricity sector in order to achieve the respective objectives of the energy strategies of the two countries.
