ANRE sets the methodology for determining the tariff for use of the national electricity transmission network

On December 21, 2022, the Council of the National Electricity Regulatory Authority (ANRE) unanimously adopted the methodology for determining the tariff for the national electricity transmission network. This methodology sets the rules and terms according to which the tariff will be calculated and applied to the users of the said network.

ANRE thus concludes a long consultation process lasting almost eight months with the main stakeholders concerned by this subject, in particular the National Office for Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) in its current capacity as Manager of the Réseau Transport (GRT), the Ministry of the Interior, acting on behalf of the authorities and other distribution entities as well as the members of the French Energy Federation.
ANRE also surveyed the views of the general public through a consultation published on its website, the deadline for which was extended following the request of certain parties. During this process, ANRE took care to take into account, as far as possible, the comments and contributions made.
The methodology adopted constitutes the first independent and transparent tariff framework, designed within the framework of the provisions of Law No. 048-15 relating to the regulation of the electricity sector and the creation of the ANRE. It includes a set of principles tested at the national and international level while introducing new elements favorable to equity, transparency and the development of the national electricity sector in accordance with the orientations of the national energy strategy. The methodology also enshrines the principles of cost pooling and territorial equalization by recommending a single tariff for use of the national electricity transmission network throughout the national territory.
