ANRE takes part in the annual meeting of UfM energy platforms in Barcelona

The President of the National Electricity Regulatory Authority (ANRE), Abdellatif Bardach, chairing the Association of Mediterranean Energy Regulators (MEDREG), took part in the annual meeting of the energy platforms of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) held on May 3 and 4, 2023 in Barcelona.

Barcelona, May 4, 2023 – The President of the National Electricity Regulatory Authority (ANRE), Abdellatif Bardach, holding the Presidency of the Association of Mediterranean Energy Regulators (MEDREG), participated in the meeting annual meeting of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) energy platforms which was held on 3 and 4 May 2023 in Barcelona. During this meeting, the representatives of the UfM Member States as well as the regional actors of the energy sector analyzed the state of progress of the implementation of the roadmap of the UfM for the action on energy, prepared in the light of the recommendations of the Ministerial Declaration on Energy, which were published during the UfM Ministerial Meeting on Energy on 14 June 2021. As President of MEDREG, Mr Bardach contributed to the work of this high-level meeting. Indeed, the President shared the ambitious vision and strategy of the multilateral institution over which he presides, and which has always been dedicated to promoting the development of the energy sector in the Mediterranean region, putting focus on regulatory and market frameworks, technical standards and public policy recommendations. In this context, MEDREG plays a proactive role in all three energy platforms of the UfM, namely; the regional electricity markets platform, the renewable energy and energy efficiency platform and the gas platform. Also, Mr. Bardach insisted on the crucial role that consumers play in the stability of the energy market. In this register, MEDREG works to strengthen the role of consumers by giving them the means to make informed decisions concerning their energy choices.
