The National Office of Electricity and Drinkable Water (ONEE), guest of ANRE

The National Electricity Regulatory Authority (ANRE) hosted a meeting, on July 6, 2021, at its headquarters in Rabat, to formally launch the various projects dictated by Law 48.15, with a delegation from the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) led by its General Director Mr. Abderrahim EL HAFIDI. The President of ANRE, Mr. Abdellatif BARDACH, recalled projects launched recently that have been given priority and announced that the authority intends to accelerate their progress in close consultation with the concerned stakeholders, the first of which is ONEE. He stressed the unbundling of the transmission activity from the other activities of ONEE, the grid access tariff and the grid code guaranteeing fair access to the national electricity transmission network. On the other hand, the General Director of ONEE, Mr. Abderrahim EL HAFIDI, has revealed that Morocco has progressed substantially since 2009, especially in the renewable energy field, which set the country as an example for many other countries to follow. He emphasized the efforts undertaken by his institution to expand and strengthen the network despite the constraints pertaining to the cost of investments. At the end of the meeting, Mr. Abdellatif BARDACH and Mr. Abderrahim El HAFIDI affirmed their determination to fraternize in their efforts to promptly proceed on the various aforementioned projects and to implement them in order to accomplish the objectives of the energy transition, set in accordance with the High Directives of His Majesty the King, May God Assist Him. It was agreed in this context to begin by setting up a joint working group responsible for monitoring, amongst other matters, the unbundling project, which is a fundamental prerequisite for guaranteeing a gradual opening of the market, while respecting the requirements for quality and security of electricity supply.
